About two years ago, after it was announced that Heath Ledger would be playing The Joker in the next Batman movie, I asked the following question: ”how can anyone possibly fill Jack Nicholson’s shoes as the best villain of all-time?”
I was skeptical about all the early Oscar buzz surrounding Dark Knight, and I know there’s a lot of time left before the nominations come out, but at this point I would be disappointed if Heath Ledger and the film itself didn’t get nominated for Academy Awards.
After seeing the movie this weekend, I can honestly say that Heath’s take on The Joker is right up there with Hannibal Lecter among the best film villain performances of all-time. Of course, I’ll always have a soft spot for Nicholson’s Joker, but he’s about as threatening as Barney next to Ledger’s version in this new movie.
Here are a couple pictures of Stefy and me at dinner right before showtime. I think we’re both ready to go see this thing a second time…

sweetie,
they had the original tim burton “batman” on ABC family (yes, that’s right, ABC family) last night and I couldn’t stop comparing jokers in my head.
I can’t believe mr. ledger made me pish-posh jack nicholson.
