Well, the result wasn’t what I would’ve hoped for tonight against the top-ranked team in the country, but I give our guys a lot of credit for their effort. We threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Bruins, and led the whole way until the final 30 seconds or so.
After the clock ran down my initial reaction was to say something like, “if Drew Neitzel had been healthy, we might’ve pulled out the victory.” But then again, UCLA wasn’t exactly playing at full strength either.
No, I think the deciding factor in this game was Raymar Morgan’s foul trouble. He’s been pretty hot so far this season, and only having him on the floor for limited minutes tonight really hurt us in the end.
Ah, well. There’s no shame in losing to the #1 team in the nation. This was a great learning experience for our freshman — who were actually pretty damned impressive — and I’m looking forward to seeing what this team can do for the rest of the season.
