I was probably ten years old when I first started learning how to play tennis. There was a brief period in high school when I was playing every day of the week and my arm got a little sore for a while, but I never had anything like “tennis elbow.”

Well, here I am on day two with my new game system hooked up, and I already have “Wii elbow“:

1. Wii elbow
Similar to tennis elbow, wii elbow is pain in one’s arm (particularly around the elbow) caused by too much wii tennis (or, possibly, not enough regular exercise).

2. Wii elbow
The pain experienced from playing any wii game (mostly wii sports) for extended periods of time. This mostly deals with wii games that require lots of arm movement.

“Damn, I got wii elbow from playing too much wii sports.”

Honest-to-God, those Wii Sports games are a workout… especially the tennis and boxing. I actually did some stretches today before I started playing again, but I don’t think it really helped. I think I’m just in pathetic shape.

Hopefully if I keep this up though I can actually use the games as a way to get some exercise:

A study by Liverpool John Moores University found regular use could help shift 27lb (12.25kg) a year.

The study was carried out to establish whether computer games can contribute to the daily activity recommendations for children.

The researchers compared activity levels during gaming using the Wii with those achieved using traditional seated joypad-controlled consoles.

They found more active forms of gaming increased energy expenditure to a level which could help lose weight.

Finally. I can be lazy and work out at the same time. My life is complete.
