Well, this weekend’s babysitting mission was a success. Morgan and Kyra did not kill each other. In fact, they got along really well (for the most part).
I picked them up from Terri’s on my way home from work on Friday, and we went back to the house. The girls watched a little TV before I made them dinner. Afterwards we took Sparty for a walk and then drove into town for some ice cream. They sell some little trinkets in the store, and I think Morgan’s day was made when she found a back scratcher for a dollar (ooooooh).
It was already a little after 7 p.m. by the time we got back to the house, so we just popped in the fourth Harry Potter movie and watched the first hour or so of that before I started getting them ready for bed. I read to the girls for fifteen or twenty minutes and then they both went to sleep without giving me any grief about it.
Saturday morning the girls woke up on their own, went downstairs, and Morgan got them both some cereal for breakfast. Now, I don’t sleep over at my dad’s very often, but this is a huge improvement over the last time I did so (Christmas day 2005, I believe) when Morgan and Kyra were camped outside my door making a ruckus so I couldn’t possibly sleep past 6:30.
I think it was 7:30 or 8 when I finally rolled out of bed. We finished off the fourth Harry Potter movie after breakfast, and immediately started the third one. I took a shower and did some frogging around online while the girls watched their movie. The timing was perfect though, because the movie finished right at noon… just in time for the MSU football game.
While I sat there cheering for the Spartans the girls just played nicely in the kitchen. I think Kyra somehow managed to bite her lip while there were playing, but a few minutes of sucking on a bag of ice made everything better.
Dad got home shortly after 4 p.m. and we watched a good chunk of the first half of the UM-Oregon bloodletting. I helped wrangle the girls while he got changed for Bob and Sheila’s wedding reception. We hit the road at 4:30 or so, and had a really nice time at the wedding.
So yep, I survived watching my little sisters for a period of 24 hours. Woo Hoo!

Thanks again for helping out with the girls, son. They love having you around!
No prob. I’m glad it went so well.
