Okay, so here’s a quick weekend re-cap.
Friday was pretty low-key. I got a haircut at 5 right after work, popped out to the Best Buy on the West side of town for a little last-minute birthday shopping, and finally went to Kroger to buy some groceries for the weekend. Other than that, I pretty much stayed home and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
Our original plan for Saturday was to have Stef meet me at my place at around noonish so we could ride to Morgan’s play in East Lansing together. Unfortunately, Stefy had to learn the hard way that there was a ton of construction on Westbound I-96, which meant she was stuck in traffic for well over an hour. In fact, the drive was taking her so long that I just had to take off for the play, which meant she missed the first half hour or so.
Anyway, this was the third play Morgan has acted in with All-of-us Express, and Morgan was playing one of the munchkins in The Wizard of Oz. Now, even though Morgan’s time onstage was pretty limited, I thought the show was really cute, and probably the best one out of the three I’ve seen so far.
After the play was over, we made our way out to dad and Sherry’s house for the old man’s 50th Birthday celebration. My Aunt Elaine and Bob, Uncle Lee and Aunt Sue, and a handful of dad and Sherry’s friends were there for the party. We had a nice time chatting with everyone, and dad seemed to like the gifts we got him, so it was a pretty fun evening.
My mom and Dan stopped by my place this afternoon on their way back to Ohio from their trip with the Heselschwerdts up North last week. Tuesday is Dan’s birthday too, so I wanted to make sure I could see him in person to give him his presents. They were able to sit and chitchat for about a half hour or so, and I was really glad we were able to make the timing work out.
Once mom and Dan took off, Stefy and I headed over to her apartment so we could start packing her things up. Stef’s lease is up in about three weeks, and while there’s still a lot of work to be done, I think we made a pretty good dent in things today. Her car was basically stuffed to the gills by the time we took off, which means at least one or two more trips will be necessary to clear everything out of there.
We were both pretty pooped after a few hours of packing, but we still swung up to Eastwood afterwards so we could meet up with my dad, Sherry, and the girls for dinner at Mitchell’s Fish Market. Stef and I were still a little full from our late lunch, so we just ended up splitting an entree, but I was glad I saved room for some of the carrot cake they brought my dad for his birthday. This thing was the size of a bowling ball, but it sure was yummy.
