weekend update

Let’s see. I slept in until about 9 on Saturday morning. Then I got up and ran a few quick errands before Stef got back from her haircut appointment. After that we went out to Somerset and Target to do some birthday shopping for Morgan and my old man (Morgan’s b-day is tomorrow, dad’s is on Sunday).

Later that afternoon, Stefy and I hopped in the car and drove out to visit her grandma for dinner. I guess June was always really famous for making meatloaf, and since Stef knows that’s my favorite dish, she called up her grandma a few weeks ago and asked if she’d be willing to make it for us.

Apparently June was all worried that she had forgotten how to make her meatloaf since she doesn’t cook very often anymore, but of course we got over to her house and she had this big feast prepared for us: this great salad, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and of course… the meatloaf itself. Everything was delish (as I expected), and we were all thoroughly stuffed by the end of the meal.

We hung out for a couple hours after dinner looking through old photos as we watched the Tigers pull out a nail-biter against the Kansas City Royals Monarchs. It was a lot of fun looking through some of her old family pictures, and made me want to do a video for June like the one I did for my grandparents.

We stuck around for the end of the game, then headed back to Stef’s house and pretty much went straight to bed since we were both still pretty pooped from the long night before.

Stef and I spent most of the day out at the lake yesterday. Sean, Marina, and the kids came out for the afternoon, so it was good to see them again too. Brandon seems to be making a lot of progress with his therapy, and the little guy is talking more and more every time we see him.

After spending way too much time in the sun, Stef and I took off for her house at a little after 5PM, and I left for Lansing shortly thereafter.

So, while it was another busy weekend, we did manage to get some good R&R time in there, so I don’t feel too burned out today. Of course, I’m still looking forward to not driving anywhere this week. I’ve burned waaaay too much dough on gas over the last two weeks.
