highlights from the week

By ibzp on 08.16.08 | Permalink | Comment

Sorry I haven’t had much time to write lately, but here are some highlights from the last two weeks:

  • • Had lunch with Paul last Saturday for the first time since his wedding last summer.
  • • Went to the summer Pohl party at my cousin Leslie’s house later that afternoon.
  • • Spent last Saturday evening with my mom and Dan, had an early birthday dinner at Bravo.
  • • Mark’s press conference on Monday was a hit – lots of TV, radio and print coverage.
  • • Had lunch with Wanda and Kim at Kewpee’s, got to catch up with my former co-workers.
  • • Got to see Stefy on Thursday evening for the first time in a week and a half.
  • • Watched Michael Phelps win seven gold medals (maybe eight, after tonight).
  • • Tomorrow I’m going to the race at MIS with Mark, who is serving as an honorary official.

less than a year to go

By ibzp on 08.16.08 | Permalink | Comment

Well, the big day is now less than a year away. On August 15, 2009 I’ll be a married man… I can’t wait!

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since Stef and I got engaged, and even crazier to think that we’ll hit our four-year anniversary on Thursday. As they say, time flies…

last weekend of freedom before the election

Three days off in a row? I hardly know what to do with myself.

Of course, I spent most of the morning yesterday doing work anyway, but I’m determined to be as lazy as humanly possible over the next 48 hours.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that plan is going to work out so well.

I’m having lunch with Paul and Rochelle at noon today, then driving straight to the Pohl party down in Michigan Center.

I’ll hang out there for a couple hours, then come back home to spend the evening with my mom and Dan, who will be staying at my place tonight on their way back to Ohio.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone, but today won’t exactly be relaxing. Guess I’ll have to be twice as lazy tomorrow.

obama’s speech in lansing

By ibzp on 08.04.08 | Permalink | Comment

I’m too tired to write anything about today’s speech, other than the fact that it was great to finally see Obama in person:

This morning in Michigan, Senator Obama announced a comprehensive New Energy for America plan designed to address the current energy crisis and move America towards an energy economy based on renewable resources and new technologies. In his speech, he identified our addiction to foreign oil as “central” to all of the major challenges facing us today, and called for the end of “the age of oil” in our time.
